Jean-Michel Basquiat (N.Y. 1960-1988), "SAMO", pencil on paper. Work 8 1/2" x 11 1/2". SAMO is a graffiti tag used on the streets of New York City from 1977 to early 1980. The character of SAMO was first developed by Basquiat, Diaz, and Shannon Dawson while they were fellow students at City-As-School, high school. The consignors deceased husband procured the piece in the 1980's, this is the fourth one we have sold from this estate, all from a single portfolio. A letter stating that will be included from the consignor.
