LOT 100.Very rare C. 1896 "Zimmy" pneumatic safety, by Zimmerman Mfg. Co. Freehold NJ. Founder Arthur Augustus Zimmerman of Freehold NJ (1869 - 1936) won the first world sprint championship in 1893 and won more than 1000 races. To our knowledge this is the only Zimmy to ever appear at auction. The Copake Auction obtained the Zimmy many years ago for David Metz, he told us he had been advertising for years to find one. Good restored condition. A collection of framed Zimmerman items from the Metz Museum are included with the bicycle. David Metz Museum.
