C. 1885 Pony Star High Wheel Bicycle
LOT 38.
C. 1885 "Pony" Star High Wheel bicycle, Mfg. by H. B. Smith Co., Smithville NJ. Featuring a 44" wheel, older restoration includes new front wheel. This example retains brakes, has proper solid rubber tires, restored saddle, pear grips. Stars have unique drive mechanisms and are considered America's first safety highwheel. They did very well in competition against other highwheel safeties. Pony's are considered the most comfortable riding machine in the Star safety series. Excellent rider. Good condition.

Retains original complete brakes, adjustable step, correct pedals, moustach handle bars (some welds), wooden grips, nameplate, dust shield, old re-tire, old re-leathered saddle on correct frame. Good riding condition.
