St. Jude - 1882 52" Columbia Expert High Wheel

The following lot has been donated by Bob Jameson to benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital. 1882, 52" Columbia Expert highwheel bicycle, serial NO.1798. Features: c. 1880's Columbia Evening Star Hub Lamp (Bob. J. reproduction), c. 1880's Hill & Tolman Cycle Alarm (Bob J. - Dan Gaier repro), c. 1880's Walker watch holder (Karl Edwards repro). with Waltham watch (runs but needs cleaning). 18" rear wheel, orig. ball bearing hub/rim, Buchannan S. S. double butted swaged spokes (They have been trouble free for 22 yrs), front and rear tiring from Dave Metz (Metz Museum, Freehold, NJ)- still ok (front has "gapped" and been filled). Grips by the late Art Hart, handle bars by Chuck Heslie, Troy. Striping by Tom Willis, Ohio. Lowell Kennedy plain bearing pedals, dust shield is accurate repro by Mike Poladna, Wis., saddle is leather of horse hair on orig. pan, saddle leaf spring is by Gary Hill, Ohio. Bike purchased in 1997 at auction in Troy, Ohio. Completely restored by Bob J. 1989. To preserve the patina, the bike is being offered in "as is" condition. It has been and still is a good and dependable rider. The stand and provenance included.

A scarce large frame model in very good restored condition.
