Featuring the UNRESERVED contents of a Salisbury, CT Estate featured in Architectural Digest
Copake Auction will hold an unreserved 750 lot catalogued estate auction on Saturday March 21st at 3PM. Included will be the unreserved contents of a Salisbury Ct. home featured in Architectural Digest (June 2004). The tastefully decorated home features almost 350 lots including folk art, furniture, accessories and more.
Highlights include a full bodied split tail rooster weathervane, attributed to W. A. Snow, Boston Ma. A similar example is shown on in “Treasury Of American Design And Antiques” (Clarence P. Hornung) pg. 466, from the permanent collection of The Smithsonian. Other featured items include a 19th c. Noah’s ark boat with over (120) carved animals as well as many other toys. Other highlights from the Salisbury estate include shorebirds, trade signs, hooked rugs, primitives, country furniture, yelloware, redware, outdoor items and more.
A pair of Ammi Phillips (1788-1865) portraits will be offered as lot 99. The auction will also feature the contents of several tri-state homes including a tastefully decorated Copake N.Y. second home featuring, quilts, needleworks, china and glassware as well as 19th and 20th c. furniture and accessories. Also selling will be items from the Marge Champion estate in Stockbridge Mass. A folk art collection from Mass. will include carved eagles, a carved elephant, a seal carving, trade signs and more. A collection of banks will be included in the auction as well. Other highlights include a Jens Risom desk, Dutch wall cabinet, gameboards, artwork, Hans Wegner folding chair, Shaker child’s rocker, period furniture and accessories, primitives, metalware, Arts and Crafts chairs, Mid Century items and more. Previews will be Thursday March 19th 11-5PM, Friday March 20th 11-7PM and Saturday March 21st 1PM until 2:45PM. The catalog will be online approximately ten days before the auction
