LOT 1a.Rare 1889 Psycho Safety Tandem. Starley Brothers, St. John's Works, Coventry, England. Serial #14 of possibly 100 units manufactured. Believed to be one of maybe a dozen examples left in the world. When the Starley Brothers exhibited their bicycles in 1888 and 1890, this Psycho did not appear, giving proof that this is a "one year only" production. Intended for ladies and gentleman with double steer and double brakes. 30" wheels fitted with new 7/8th tires. Weight 74 pounds. Geared to 57 inch. Matching ladies and mens saddles. Matching pedals. Both front and rear coasting steps. Rare example and opportunity.
