35th Annual New Year’s Day Auction

This will be our most important sale of the year featuring the partial UNRESERVED contents of the J. Turndorf “Dr. Love” 18th C. Tavern in Millbrook, NY; an 18th c. upper Saddle River, New Jersey Dutch Home and several hand picked estates from the tri-state area.

Auction: Thursday January 1, 2015 at 12 noon

Previews: Sat. Dec. 27 Thru Wed. Dec. 31: 11 AM -5 PM,  Thur. Jan. 1: 10 AM – 11:45 AM  * Storm Date: 1/3/2015

Pre-Sale Article:

Copake Auction will hold its 35th Annual New Year’s Day auction on Thursday January 1st at 12PM. Previews will be 12/27 through 12/31 11-5PM and 1/1 10AM until 11:45AM. The entire preview is available online at www.copakeauction.com, website includes estimates, descriptions and photographs. The auction will be live in the gallery as well as live online with Liveauctioneers , Invaluable and Auctionzip.

The auction features items from the 18th c. Millbrook N.Y. home of Jamie Turndorf (radio host”Dr. Love”), an 18th c. upper Saddle River  New Jersey Dutch Home and several handpicked estates from the tri-state area. “This will be one of the best auctions we have ever held, such a broad and quality selection” said Mike Fallon owner of Copake Auction.

Highlights in furniture include (5) 18th c. Highboys, (10) Grandfather clocks (including a Tiffany example), corner cupboards, early seating, tavern tables, farm tables, 18th c. chest on frame, Continental furniture, candlestands, cupboards, dropleaf tables, blanket boxes, blanket chests and more. Many items are in original paint surface.

Folk art will include weathervanes, game boards, decoy collection, wooden Santa Clause figure, trade signs, carvings, primitives, windmill weights and more.

A quality selection of art will be include Jean-Michel Basquiat, 17th c. Peruvian mural painting, Keith Haring, Edward L. Henry, Antonio Rodriguez Luna, Isaac Friedlander, Marie Laurencin, Hayley Lever, B.W. Leader, A.T. Hibbard, Alexander Austen, Louis Van Staaten, Andre Vignoles, J.S. Tucker, Mylo Quam, Earnest Finkernagel, Rembrandt etching, Van Gogh print, Toulouse Lautrec lithographs and more.
