1. 19th c. English silverplate and cut glass desk set signed and hallmarked “R. Richardson Cornwall Works Sheffield #2405” c. 1885. Paw footed plateau having pen well flanked by matched pair of built in cut glass inkwells with silver flip lids having turned finials, cast silver plated wheelman mounting his highwheel. 15 ½” x 7” 8”ht. Ex Roger Johnson collection, one of the pioneer bicycle collector-scholars in this country.  This item is the last items of his collection and was one of his most coveted pieces. Very good condition. By the Overman Wheel Co., Chicopee, Mass. 32” front and rear wheels, Victor split frame having hung crank, classic Victor front suspension, correct handlebars with wooden grips, brake hardware (rear wheel brake). 20A. 1937 Montgomery Wards Silver King Flo-Cycle Streamlined Model. Beautiful original condition. Original stainless fenders, aluminum handlebars, Delta horn light, battery tube & button. 62. 1893 Iver Johnson/Lovell Diamond first year pneumatic with Rover style frame having 30” wheels with radial spokes and both original canvas tires still intact, good unrestored condition. This is a very desirable early safety. Sold: $1,800

 

63. 1903 Rambler model 772 man’s safety with exceptionally good original paint and nickel. This bike has all correct parts including Corbin Duplex coaster brake and G & J patent tire pump mounted to frame. Sold: $500

 

64. 1897 Brightwood wood frame ladies safety. This is a very unique and rare wood frame ladies bike made in New York. It is in very good original complete condition with all joints being tight and wood sturdy. Sold: $3,250

 

64A. 1937 Iver Johnson Streamline in outstanding original condition. Cross-brace
handlebars and gooseneck are marked Iver Johnson. Excellent paint, pinstripes and decals. Beautiful fenders and very good chrome throughout. Deep-spring saddle. Delta horn light. Sold: $625

 

65. 1936 Colson Commander. Wilbur Henry Adams, noted industrial designer of the period, created the Commander as a “smarter bicycle than the world of cycling has ever seen—of light weight, strength, and distinctive beauty”. This bicycle is an excellent original example of the 1936 Colson Commander and shows most of the original plated and painted surfaces. The chrome is very nice throughout and the paint retains it’s wonderful colors, while much of the contrasting striping is intact. With less than ten original examples extant, this very rare first generation Commander is highly sought after by advanced collectors. Sold: $4,750

 

66. 1936 Rollfast Royal Flyer. The D.P. Harris Manufacturing Company built this bicycle in 1936 in the early days of the balloon-tired era. There is a chrome nut at the top of the seat mast, which holds the seat post in place, indicating this to be a one-year model and therefore rare. The original black and crème paint with red striping is in excellent condition and most of the chrome is very good. Typical of bikes from this year, it didn’t come with a chain guard even though it was offered as one of their deluxe models. Just as the decals on the tank and seat mast say, this bike rides with “Speed and Ease”! Sold: $675

 

67. 1936 Mesinger Airflow Saddle. This rare girls saddle was used on the Dayton Safety Streamline and other balloon tired bikes from 1936. The tornado spring coils are absolutely unique to this seat and are complimented by the original leather top. Pass

This model features the ultra rare leaf spring front suspension, battery tank, heavy duty seat, electric head lamp, very desirable bronze Indian Chief relief thumb bell, sprung rear carrier, rear tail lamp. 88A. 1937 Schwinn Fleet Deluxe “C-Model” boys bike. Tank retaining original paint and graphics and is in outstanding condition and includes original Delta horn unit and button. The rest of the bike has good amateur restoration. All original parts including deluxe long-wing chainguard and 9-hole rack. Nice deep-spring saddle. 97.  Scarce c. 1868-69 Michaux bone shaker mfg. in Paris, France. The Michaux shop is generally credited with the invention of the rotary crank propulsion system, and probably with the very first bicycle manufacturing company. This example has restored wheels, 36” front 30” rear, recovered saddle, bronze “Acorn” counter balanced pedals. V.G. Restored condition. Sold: $5,000

 

98. c. 1892 Clipper hard tire safety mfg. by the Grand Rapids Bicycle Co. in Michigan (operated 1892-1898), this example is a “convertible” having removable strut rods which convert it to a ladies machine. Great item…comes with a scan of J. Bruiner doing the 74 miles per hour world record wearing this style of helmet.
