31. Racing bicycle ridden by Steve Heg which set the 4000 meter individual pursuit world outdoor record in 1986. Black frame with huffy decals. Campagnolo stressed kevlar disc wheels and campagnolo crank set. Restored.

50. 19th c. colored litho, “Nouveau Steeple Chase”, depicting four ladies in ornate period (c.1870) dress riding adult tricycles with tiller steering. Three gents in the background are watching with glee. Artist signed in the stone, “A. Morlon”. Antony Paul Morlon was born in France in 1845. Printer Becquet, Paris. 18 ¾” x 23 ¾”. Damage to upper left corner (tear) and some stains.

Very rare composition (believed to be gutta percha) snuff box having relief on lid framing a landscape with a pair of gents on their hobby horses, surrounded by a basketweave decoration with concentric lines. Artist signed Brauwell (?). Back cover with beading and basketweave and flower petals. 3”Dia. Imperfections.

80. Extremely rare c. 1937 “Roadmaster Supreme”, by Cleveland Welding Co. with “All American” head badge. Features include N.D. front brake , Lobel horizontal sprung saddle, horn tank, illuminated rear rack, Torrington jeweled pedals, US Royal “Super Master” centipede grip white wall tires. Original cream yellow with maroon accents. Exceptional original untouched condition. Note unusual curved frame and crank.

84. The Zimmerman collection, found in a relatives home in Spring Lake, NJ. This cache of rare memorabilia includes three framed lots: 1) 12” x 38” frame with ribbon background (professionally done in the period) and four photo cabinet cards depicting Zimmerman the racer with medals including the famous “Raleigh” pose used by the Raleigh Bicycle Co. in their early promos. Also included in this frame is a die cut depicting Zimmerman and two Zimmerman Bicycle Co. logos; 2) Victorian oak shadow box with medals and ribbons – mostly “official” type probably given to Mr. Zimmerman at meets to celebrate his celebrity. Includes Madison Square Garden 6 Day Races 1903-05-09, NCA Championship and more. All laid out on red, white and blue bunting. Frame 29” x 25”; 3) early studio posed photo of Zimmerman with a chest full of racing medals and racing memorabilia (note rifle leaning against the table) and a Star highwheel safety racer. Period oak frame. Lower left corner has tear. Photo 10” x 8”. Entire lot is an early document to the career of one of America’s greatest racers and has historical significance. Lot in generally Fair to Vg. Cond

Apparently the Bowden Co. was trying to establish the body style to other bicycle manufacturers and interest them in production. The venture failed. Found in Holland. Exc. Cond.

Original paint and pin stripes, possibly original rubber 50” rear wheels, white ribbed tread, front wheel 15”, “John Bull North Pole patient 3 /4 inch” white tire. Name plate missing, seat cover needs restoration. Extremely original machine. Chain guard has original logo (hard to read). Note left hand brake and elliptical leaf spring seat. Exc. original condition.

109. Highwheel: 52” Star highwheel safety (nickel plated front fork), patented by Geo. Pressey, Hammonton, NJ. “The Star” was manufactured by H.B. Smith Machine Co. of Smithville, NJ. The Star incorporated a unique lever and ratchet drive. This machine appears to be very original, unrestored example. Good Cond., needs restoration.
