On Saturday March 14, 2009 at 5 pm Michael and Seth Fallon of Copake Auction Inc. conducted a successful catalogued Americana sale to a full auction house. The sale featured the contents of a Southampton, NY estate including period & country furniture, artwork, folk art, weathervanes, a quilt collection, primitives and period accessories. Over 550 lots were sold to a full house with a total of 200 registered bidders and 350 phone and absentee bids.
Some highlighted sold items from the sale include a 19th c. bronze clock surround $7,700, an 18th c. cherry wood Conn. Chippendale serpentine chest having reeded quarter columns and ogee bracket feet $5,060, an 18th c. William & Mary child’s size single drawer blanket chest $1,760, an 18th c. Hudson Valley dingle drawer tavern table $1,265, a polychrome patriotic Federal eagle wood carving $1,100, an early 19th c. Maine decorated dressing table $1,485, a Running horse weathervane $1,430, a pair of 19th c. watercolor portraits of twin children $1,210, a 19th c. framed tile grouping of a pub scene $1,045, a 19th c. North Shore mahogany Tambour desk $1,320, a 19th c. oil on canvas signed “Snyder 79” $1,760 and a 19th c. whig rose appliqué quilt $1,375. “The crowd seemed very optimistic, I have a good feeling of things to come” Seth Fallon commented.
